Template information:
WALTER ROSE is a lifeboat up to 9.5 meters used by the German Naval Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). It was built at Lürssen's shipyard in Bardenflet in 2003. It was originally moored in Heligoland, still under the name VERENA, where it served as a subsidiary of the rescue cruiser HERMANN MARWEDE, with which it operated in international waters. At the end of 2012, however, HERMANN MARWEDE received a new boat and VERENA, renamed WALTER ROSE, has since been used as a stand-alone lifeboat at the Schilksee Volunteer Base in Kiel Bay. The 9.5 meter lifeboats have a delta hull and boast excellent seafaring characteristics. Since its founding in 1865, DGzRS crews have rescued around 81,000 people in distress or danger at sea. The work of these crews is financed purely in the form of voluntary donations, DGzRS never asked for a contribution from public funds.
