The Marder ("kuna" in German) is a German combat vehicle. The German army considers it the main weapon in the Panzergrenadiere (mechanized infantry) from 1970 to the present.
Manufactured in 1988-1998, the Marder 1A3 is currently the most widely used version of this system. Marder 1A4 differs from 1A3 only through the use of cryptography -capable radio equipment. The latest version of Marder is the Marder 1A5 with advanced mine protection. Only a small amount of this variant is in operation.
