Template information:
The F-104G was the most produced version of the F-104 family, a multi-purpose fighter bomber with a total of 1,127 aircraft produced. They were manufactured by Lockheed, licensed by Canadair and a consortium of European companies, including Messerschmitt / MBB, Fiat, Fokker and SABCA. The first produced F-104G took off in Germany on October 5, 1960, in Belgium on August 3, 1961, in the Netherlands on November 11, 1961, and in Italy on June 9, 1962.
The F-104G featured a reinforced fuselage structure, wings, a larger vertical rib with a fully powered rudder, as used in the two-seater versions; fully powered brakes, a new anti-slip system and larger tires; revised flaps for better combat maneuvering; and greater braking slip. Improved electronics included the Autonetics NASARR F15A-41B radar with air-to-air modes, ground mapping, contour mapping and terrain avoidance, as well as the Litton LN-3 navigation system (the first on the production fighter).
