Plastic model Revell 05109 - Assault Ship U.S.S. IWO JIMA LHD-7. Scale 1: 350, number of pieces to be glued 1428, length 73.5 cm, construction difficulty 5.
Model U.S.S. IWO JIMA consists of 1428 parts and thus represents a reproduction of the highest quality. The kit also contains photo-etched metal parts, which represent railings and radar equipment. The one-piece flight deck fits perfectly on the fuselage. The cargo area for vehicles, the hangar for aircraft and helicopters as well as the docking area are also perfectly rendered. Hovercraft (LCAC) and landing craft (LCU), which are also part of the kit, there are M1A1 and M60 tanks, several AAV7, HMMWV and trucks. The kit also includes the following aircraft or helicopters: AH-1W Super Cobra, CH-53E Sea Stallion, CH-46 Sea Knight, AV-8B Harrier II and MV-22A Osprey.
You'll also find two side elevators that can be adjusted to any position to move them from the hangar to the flight deck. Highly detailed superstructures include radar and other electronic equipment mounted on two masts. In the inventory of equally detailed armament you will find RIM-7 Sea Sparrow, RIM-116 RAM, Phalanx CIWS and several guns and machine guns. There are then various marks and details on the printed sheet for the ship, planes and helicopters, as well as for landing barges. Of course, all design differences compared to U.S.S. Wasp, which are especially noticeable in the body area.
Template information:
In the form of U.S.S. In 2001, the IWO JIMA (LHD-7) commissioned the US Navy's seventh "WASP" class vessel - a class of modern multi-purpose landing craft. These ships, based on the Tarawa class, can carry on board up to 40 V / STOL helicopters and aircraft (with vertical / short take-off and landing) as well as up to 1894 Marines. In addition, this "floating dock" has several landing craft on board, which are used to transport vehicles and crew to the landing beach. The main mission of these units is therefore to support the landing operations of the US Navy. However, they can also be used for humanitarian or rescue operations. U.S.S. IWO JIMA is equipped with a continuous, 257.2 m long flight deck. Its maximum speed is 20 knots. Crew: 104 officers and 1004 regular soldiers. Its medical facility can provide intensive medical care for up to 600 wounded in four main and two emergency operating rooms.
