Template information:

The A400M is a newly developed cargo and transport aircraft designed primarily for use by European states within the NATO military alliance. However, it also meets a number of international requirements of various other air forces. As a successor to the C-130 and C-160, it can carry more than twice the load compared to them and can easily take off and land even on unpaved surfaces. Thirty percent of its hull is made of composite fibers. The first machine produced - MSN007 - was handed over to the French Air Force in August 2013. Its first sharp operation was at the end of December of the same year flight to Mali. This aircraft can carry, for example, 116 soldiers or two Unimog 2450L trucks or two Eurocopter Tiger attack helicopters. It is also possible to drop paratroopers or parachute loads from it, as well as to install MedEvac mobile military hospital equipment in case the wounded soldiers need to be moved or returned to their homeland. The aircraft is also equipped with a probe for refueling in flight, which significantly increased its operational range. By 2020, the German Air Force plans to acquire forty of these aircraft and assign them to the 62nd Air Transport Squadron at Wunstorf.
