Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger (Czech "ťuhýk") is a German single-seat single-engine fighter. It was designed in the late 1930s by Kurt Tank and used in large numbers during World War II. Together with the well-known Messerschmitt Bf 109 counterpart, the Fw 190 became the backbone of the Luftwaffe fighter forces. The two-star BMW 801 engine, which powered most versions, allowed the Fw 190 to carry a heavier load than the Bf 109. Thanks to this, it could be used as a day fighter, fighter bomber, fighter and, to a lesser extent, a night fighter.

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was a German fighter aircraft that was a standard Luftwaffe fighter just before World War II. During it, together with the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe fighter forces. It was first deployed in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. He was still in service at the time of the introduction of jet aircraft at the end of World War II in 1945. At the time of its creation, it was one of the most advanced fighters. It carried modern construction elements such as an all-metal self-supporting structure, a closed cockpit and a retractable undercarriage. It was powered by a liquid-cooled, twelve-cylinder inverted internal combustion engine. It was commonly called the Me 109, mainly by the Allied garrisons and among the German aces, although it was not an official German designation.
