Mercedes-Benz 540K (type W24) was an exclusive German car manufactured by Mercedes-Benz in the years 1936-1939, and only to order. He was the main rival of the French Bugatti Typo 57SC.

The car was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1936 as a successor to the Mercedes 500K. It had a modern chassis with independent all-wheel suspension for the smoothest possible ride and sufficient power to satisfy even the most demanding customers. The letter K in the name meant a compressor that increased the performance of a technically perfect in-line eight-cylinder. The car has a 5.4 liter engine, weighs around 2,300 kg and reaches a top speed of 170 km / h with a fuel consumption of 28 to 30 liters per 100 km. In total, less than 400 cars were produced, which, however, had very different bodies. Two-door sports roadsters, convertibles, tourers and two- and four-door coupes with a normal and retractable roof were popular. Of course also limousines.
