The Audi A5 is a range of compact, powerful coupe cars manufactured by German carmaker Audi since March 2007. The A5 series also includes a coupe, convertible and "Sportback" (four-door gate as a steep ridge at the rear, window with integrated boot lid) Audi A4 and station wagon.
On May 10, 2006, Audi confirmed that the A5 would go into production. The A5 was the first of a series of B8 vehicles to be released (the others are the A4 and Q5 crossover SUVs), all based on the Audi MLP (Modular Longitudinal Platform), which is the basis of the new generation A6 and A8. The A5 is the third coupe in the Audi lineup, followed by the second generation TT and R8. The A5 adopted the design elements of the Nuvolari quattro concept car. The A5 debuted with the 195 kW (261 hp) 3.2-liter FSI V6 engine.
