The Sukhoi SU-27 (NATO: Flankier) is a Soviet twin-engine heavy fighter designed to gain air supremacy. The prototype flight took place in May 1977. The SU-27 aircraft was developed as a response to the introduction of the F-15 Eagle into service in the USAF. The SU-27 is a very good design. Much of its fame is due to the magnificent Saturn-Liulka AŁ-31F engines, which provide 12,500 kg of thrust with the afterburner on, while being easy to operate and interchangeable between right and left and vice versa. In addition, unlike many previous Soviet designs, the SU-27 has a long service life of up to 3,000 hours when inspected every 100 hours. This machine is at least comparable to the corresponding versions of the F-15 or the PANAVIA Tornado ADV. The SU-27 is usually armed with AA-73 Archer short-range missiles and R-27 long-range missiles, as well as the GSh-30-1 30mm cannon used in the MIG 29. Its strengths are its high accuracy and rate of fire (1500 rounds per minute), the disadvantage is the short life of the drum, which must be replaced after 80 seconds of shooting! The standard SU-27 radar is the RŁPK-27 device. The SU-27, together with the MIG 29 aircraft, are the basic fighters of the Air Force of the Russian Federation. To date, about a dozen versions of this aircraft have been created. Among others, it is worth mentioning: SU-27, designated as SU-27S, i.e. the basic fighter version, and SU-27SK, i.e. the export version. Technical data (SU-27S version): length: 21.9 m, span: 14.7 m, height: 5.92 m, maximum speed: 2.35 Ma, rate of climb: 300 m/s, practical range: 19000 m, maximum range: 3530 km, armament: fixed - one 30mm GSh-30-1 cannon, mounted - up to 8000 kg of cargo.
