The North American B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engine bomber with a bow retractable landing gear and a double vertical tail plane, used during World War II. It is named after US Air Force General William "Billy" Mitchell, who vehemently advocated aviation technology in the 1920s, even against the will of some of his superiors.
The B-25 aircraft was created on the basis of an order from the US Army Air Force in 1937. The first of 184 ordered B-25s took off on August 19, 1940 powered by a pair of two-star fourteen-cylinder Wright R-2600-9 Double Cyclone with an output of 1360 kW . By the end of the year, a total of 25 pieces had been produced, of which a modified wing was introduced from the tenth, the outer parts of which had zero lift.
